At some point this week, HP’s North American online store was updated with new high-end EliteBooks that feature AMD Strix Point APUs. Three models appear to support up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory—these curious entries were highlighted by tech enthusiast Hoang Anh Phu (AnhPhuH). The advertised maximum 8533 MT/s transfer rate exceeds Team Red’s official reference figure (7500 MT/s) for the EliteBook X G1a’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 APU. Looking further up in the Team Red “Strix Point” product stack, we spotted their Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 spec sheet boasting a maximum LPDDR5x transfer speed of 8000 MT/s. Press outlets have expressed doubt when analyzing three of HP’s EliteBook X G1a SKUs. Theories point to product pages containing possible placeholder information, or inaccuracies.

Working with the belief that the specs are legit, AnhPhuH commented: “this is the first laptop featured with 128 GB LPDDR5x-8533 128-bit memory. That would mean it’s using four 256 Gb x32 modules(?!). As far as I know, all three major DRAM manufacturers currently only have 128 Gb x32 modules…the EliteBook X G1a uses Strix Point, not Strix Halo, so it only pairs with four x32 modules (two 64-bit channels).” HP’s web shop states that the EliteBook X G1a models are due to launch on March 14. We hope that further clarification and concrete specifications appear online closer to release time. Initial pricing starts at $2749 for the lowliest of the three “128 GB LPDDR5X-8533” equipped models. The agonizingly named flagship “HP EliteBook X G1a 14 inch Notebook Next Gen AI PC Wolf Pro Security Edition” offering comes in at an eye-watering $4299.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Handheld Performance Review

Introduction

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has landed almost exactly seven years after the original game. Henry of Skalitz is now a knight and has gathered tons of experience as a personal bodyguard of Hans Capon of Rattay. But due to an unfortunate turn of events in the spirit of Metroid games, he will be stripped of his armor, personal possessions, and skills, left to return to his former glory on his own in the new open world map Kingdom Come: Deliverance II takes place in.

The game is a massive improvement over the original, bringing streamlined but quite demanding and somewhat janky swordplay that still works, in our opinion, better on a controller. Tons of new quests, and even more choices await the player. Visuals have also been extensively overhauled. Another piece of good news is that the sequel is in a much better place, performance-wise, than the first game was at launch.

The digital recreation of 15th-century Bohemia was built using CryEngine, with Warhorse Studios deciding to avoid implementing demanding ray tracing effects. Despite this, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II looks mostly fantastic with only a few visual effects, such as reflections and ambient occlusion, being noticeably below what you can achieve with ray tracing. On the other hand, while detailed, character models look stiff and lack good animations. Lastly, settlements are less impressive than forests and open meadows but still look more than decent.

The game supports FSR and DLSS (you can force enable-DLSS 4 upscaling inside the NVIDIA app), but there’s no support for frame generation.

This handheld performance review will evaluate the performance of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on the two most popular handheld gaming PCs at the moment, Steam Deck, and ASUS ROG Ally. The following pages also include our thoughts on the out-of-box experience on SteamOS and Windows, optimized settings for both devices, and a ton of screenshots.

ASRock told PCMag it plans to move some of its production out of China. “We need time to shift the manufacturing of GPU cards and other products hit by the 10% tariff to different countries,” they said. This week, the White House put a 10% tax on all Chinese imports to the US, this tax applies on top of any other taxes the US already had on certain Chinese goods. ASRock also said, “While we move from making things in China to making them elsewhere, we might take on some of the cost and raise prices a bit to show the higher costs.” But they added, “It’s not easy to raise prices because the market is still very competitive.” ASRock also told PCMag that it already pays a 25% tax on its power supplies made in China. “For items like PSUs that already have an extra 25% tax, makers will keep doing what they’ve been doing,” the company said.

If Trump administration doesn’t follow through with his threats of huge tariffs against Taiwan, the PC gaming industry will primarily feel the effects on companies like ASRock and MSI (which makes its motherboards in Shenzhen, China). These are the component and peripheral makers that have part or all of their manufacturing processes in China. ASRock’s announcement isn’t a huge surprise, as we saw hints of this trend in late 2024 when PC Partner (second-biggest graphics card maker, producing PCBs for brands such as Inno3D and Zotac) moved its headquarters from China to Singapore. It will be no surprise if other top-tier brands such as GIGABYTE, MSI, and ASUS take similar actions sooner or later.

Dan Clark Audio NOIRE X Closed-Back Headphones Review

Of the many, many audio brands that exist today, very few have impressed me like Dan Clark Audio (DCA) has. The DCA CORINA is an electrostatic set of open-back headphones which, when paired with my Headamp BHSE amplifier, continues to be one of my most preferred listening experiences for music, or even general media consumption. In fact, I had just emailed Dan late last year about how his recommended NOS tubes for the BHSE worked so well with vocals playback on the CORINA. He thanked me in the email and then teased me about something else coming up soon which was hopefully going to shake up the headphones market one more time. It wasn’t long before the brand announced the product in question—the DCA NOIRE X—and thanks to Dan Clark Audio for providing a review sample to TechPowerUp!

The Dan Clark Audio Aeon Closed X, developed in collaboration with Drop, was my first introduction to the brand. The Aeon series showcased DCA’s tuning philosophy, with the use of filters to help achieve a tonality more amenable to the average listener, and the goal of creating a sound signature akin to a set of speakers in a well-treated room. The tuning filters of course had limitations in what they could do, and driver dampening only goes so far either as other brands have found out. However, the industrial design of the Aeon series of headphones was a clear winner, with its human ear-shaped cups and minimal headband that made for some of the most comfortable headphones on the market today—all the harder to achieve with heavier planar magnetic drivers. Dan and his team soon developed the patent-pending acoustic metamaterial tuning system (AMTS) for better control over the headphone tuning, which we saw used in the closed-back flagship STEALTH and the open-back flagship CORINA. The DCA E3 came out earlier this year, bringing AMTS and a lot of what made the STEALTH popular at $2000—half the price of the STEALTH. Today we examine the new Dan Clark Audio NOIRE X, which now brings AMTS to an even more affordable price range to promise a smooth frequency response and detail on par with flagship headphones, and we begin the review with a look at the product specifications in the table below.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Handheld Performance Review

Introduction

After being a PlayStation 5 exclusive for less than two years, Marvel’s Spider-Man has web-slinged to PC in all its glory. The full-fledged sequel to the 2018 game is bigger and prettier than the original. Instead of controlling just one Spider-Man like in the first game, and the follow-up Spider-Man Miles Morales, players can now sling around NYC as Peter Parker and Miles Morales, with the game supporting seamless transition between the two playable characters.

The open world set in New York City has been greatly expanded compared to the first two games. Aside from Manhattan, you can now freely explore Brooklyn and Queens as well. The PC version of the game comes with a selection of upgrades, including support for ultrawide monitors, a slew of improved and expanded RT effects, featuring all major upscaling technologies.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 supports AMD FSR, NVIDIA DLSS, and Intel XeSS and also includes Insomniac’s own upscaling solution called IGTI (Insomniac Games Temporal Injection). While Insomniac had been at the helm during the development of the PS5 version of the game, the PC port duties were bestowed to Nixxes, which have ported pretty much all PC versions of Sony’s first-party PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusives.

While the game has relatively modest system requirements (for a PS5 exclusive), the question arises: is it playable on the two most popular PC gaming handhelds: the Steam Deck and the ASUS ROG Ally? Apple is off to a great start in 2025, thanks to a record-breaking fourth quarter. Net revenue soared to a whopping $124.3 billion – the highest ever for the Cupertino giant – with iPhones driving 55.6% of revenue. Macs and iPads, as usual, appear to be a drop in the bucket compared to iPhones, with $8.98 and $8.088 billion in net sales respectively. Services witnessed commendable growth, adding $26.34 billion to Apple’s pile.

Of course, this does not mean that the grass is all green for the company. Apple Intelligence witnessed a tumultuous launch, suffering from multiple setbacks and lukewarm reviews. Tim Cook does believe that there is still a lot of innovation on the table for the iPhone, which he revealed in a recent interview. Considering that the company is widely rumored to be preparing a major redesign for the iPhone, along with a brand-new Air/Slim variant, it does appear that this year will turn out to be quite an interesting one for iPhone enthusiasts.

The same cannot be said for the iPad, however. The overhauled M4 iPad Pro with the stunning tandem OLED display failed to move as many units as Apple had hoped, and any further updates to the iPad lineup destined for this year are likely to be internal spec bumps. The MacBook Pro is also expected to receive a major redesign, but that is not expected to take place before 2026, which is when the device is also expected to ship with an OLED display for the first time.
